The 2022-2023 Renewal Portal is now open. Please login to your email and accept the invitation sent to your Charter School Leader and Board Chair. The school leader can add collaborators to the Renewal Application shortly after they have accepted the invitation to the portal. Please do NOT create new renewal applications, they can not be combined with the existing renewal applications and will be deleted.
Instructions:
Schools requesting a charter renewal term beginning on July 1, 2024, must submit a completed application for charter renewal, with the exception of the Benchmark 1 narrative, no later than 5:00 PM EST on August 15, 2023
Renewal schools must submit all revision requests with their renewal applications to the CSO Online Portal by the August 15, 2023 renewal application due date. The December 1, 2023 revision request submission due date is for non-renewal schools.
To determine a school’s eligibility to submit an application, reference this list placed on the renewal application webpage: Charter schools whose charter terms expire at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
The Benchmark 1 narrative based on data provided by the CSO prior to the due date, and other supplementary data that the school may choose to present, is to be submitted no later than 5:00 PM EST on October 3, 2023. Prior to that date, the NYSED will provide Benchmark 1 data to the charter school, with the exception of the data required by the NYSED Local Assessment Plan[3] information, which the school should incorporate into its Benchmark 2 narrative.
Eligible school applicants will submit the complete renewal application solely through the NYSED CSO online portal. The NYSED CSO will soon provide details about the renewal process, resources, and its online portal. Details will also be posted on the NYSED CSO renewal application information page.
